Guest Scientist, Chemistry Department, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton NY/USA; Work area: chemical doping of semiconducting polymers. Advise undergraduates.

2005-2007:

Research Associate, University of Alberta/Edmonton: (1) Design & synthesis of organic sulfides & sulfinilimes for sulfur-removing catalysts for use in sweetening of petroleum refining products. (2) Synthesis of lipophillic pyrimidine derivatives & other more elaborate heterocyclic compounds as components of tubular nanoscale structures. Assisted & advised junior colleagues. Presented results at internal meetings & progress reports. 1 publication.

2004-2005:

Research Assistant Professor, University of Nevada, Reno: Design & synthesis of molecules containing multiple aromatic rings as the stator-base to a 3-fold unidirectional rotor. Assisted & advised junior colleagues. Presented results at internal meetings, external conferences & progress reports.

2003-2004:

Research Associate, University of California/Davis: Synthesized enzyme inhibitors for soluble epoxide hydrolase enzyme (carboxylic acid esters), prepared & tabulated basic spectroscopic characterization data of compounds for publication & reported results at internal presentations. 1 publication.

1999-2003:

Research Director & Lecturer in Organic Chemistry, University of Kent/UK:* Synthesis & coordination chemistry of novel nitrogen heteroaromatic compounds - i.e., quinoxaline-pyridine hybrids. Directed research of graduate students & undergraduates. Prepared funding proposals for UK scientific councils (2 were funded). 6 publications.

1995-1999:

Independent researcher, University of Basel/Switzerland: Synthesis & coordination chemistry of novel nitrogen heteroaromatic compounds - i.e., pyrazine-pyridine hybrids. Directed research of graduate students & undergraduates. Prepared funding proposals for submission to Swiss scientific councils (1 was funded). Presented research results in conferences & invited talks. 6 publications.

1993-1995:

Post-doctoral Researcher & Teaching Assistant, University of Basel/Switzerland: Synthesis of nitrogen heteroaromatics, i.e. oligopyridines & their helical coordination complexes with cuprous & argentous salts. 3 publications.
